Gratitude notes for November 2017
- I had a fantastic lunch with a friend today. We were supposed to work, but we ended up having a “level 3 conversation”. It’s always a gift when that happens.
- Dance was great tonight. I’m really lucky to have friends that will just pick up and boogie for a bit on their own initiatives.
- I’m thankful for a phone interview I had today. I’m still learning how to be myself during this company-dating process, and I’m thinking that, like all interactions, I ought to do some preliminary research then go into it empty-headed. Beyond that, the less I prepare, the better I’m able to be me. I’m grateful that I have multiple opportunities to try doing this correctly.
- I’m grateful for being able to look at these excellent job opportunities.
- I’m thankful that I’ve been able to build my people skills over the years. Besides making it easier for me to learn from and connect to others, life’s a lot more fun because of it.
- I’m super grateful for my buddy who gave me superb advice about what to look for in a job. He mentioned things like believing in the end product, building new products (instead of maintaining old ones), exercising autonomy, and understanding how the position fits into my bigger personal goals. I’m trying to get him to cough up his address so I can send him something as a thank you for the insights.
- I’m happy that I’ve found a way to help another buddy with his venture, even though I can’t give him the level of commitment he’s looking for. I’m just happy that I’m able to contribute, somehow.
- I’m thankful that I got to check out my friend’s presentation at an office-space she designed tonight. I learned a ton and got to support what she does at the same time.
- I’m thankful for running around sunset. It was super calm out today and the sky was a deep, vivid orange. I understand why people drive to the beach and stay in their cars just to watch it each day.
- I had a phenomenal lunch with my buddy today. It feels really great that we’re on the same page about so many things and that we make time for each other.
- I’m grateful for my health. It’s strange to think it, but I could fall ill at any time for any or no reason at all. Every day I’m able to walk around on my own is a gift.
- I’m thankful that my article didn’t take long to write tonight.
- I’m thankful for the time I get to spend with my family. I had a really great time with Mom tonight.
- I had a fantastic time at Zumba this morning. The energy was phenomenal and dancers were aglow.
- I’m grateful for having pursued my consultancy. The people I’ve met as a result have been fantastic and have made my life better.
- I’m thankful for the past few days that I’ve spent with people I care about. It seems simple, but it’s all too easy to take for granted.
- I’m grateful that I don’t drink. It allows me to keep my wits about me and engage much better with those around me than I would otherwise.
- I’m thankful for Thanksgiving leftovers.
- On my run today, I came upon a woman walking her dog. I was about 100 feet away, but I could tell she was walking with an uplifting swagger. I smiled at her, and as I neared, she smiled back and waved. As I waved back, her swagger extended just a little bit bigger. We’d just brightened each other’s days :)
- I’m thankful that high school reunions are a thing. When you take a step back and look at it, it’s really a kind of magical experience that people with different lives can come back and connect with only history between them.
- I’m grateful for the countless people I got to talk to today, starting in the afternoon and ranging all the way to tonight. My life is better with the people I get to spend time with.
- I’m thankful that I exercised today. It turns out that I tend to be more anxious when I don’t exercise regularly.
- I saw a dump truck dump some dirt during my run today. I know so little about construction and dump trucks, and it’s fun to just observe how they do what they do.
-I’m grateful for video chat and serendipity. I get to have more great conversations with those two things.
- I had a fantastic time dancing with my friend tonight. I’m grateful that I get to dance for fun on a Tuesday night!
- I’m thankful for my mother’s dog. She’s a strong-willed, friendly dog who simply enjoys human company. Nothing more and nothing less. I could learn from her.
- I had a great time at Zumba this morning. All of us were in peak mode today, and the class was super full, too. I’m so lucky all these fun-loving people get together to do this regularly—it’d be no fun without them.
- I’m thankful that I feel I can reach out to others when I need help. Feeling as though I’m unable is a lose-lose scenario.
- I’m thankful that I have my body and health intact. I thought about what might happen if I lost my hands todayI suppose I’d find a way to make do, but I’m grateful it’s not something I have to consider today.
- I’m grateful that I don’t live somewhere where I’m continually concerned about my safety. That’s a really big deal that I haven’t even had to seriously consider.
- I’m thankful for the people I interact with each day who show me their bright side. Whatever side they show me is contagious, so I’m thankful for the happy ones.
- I’m grateful that I can still do dance class (and have a blast with the other students) when my back is pulled. In fact, I got to experiment dancing “all arms”.
- I’m thankful I got a peek at another town for a meeting today. I was pleasantly surprised by an area I thought might be somewhat deserted.
- During my run, I smiled at a man. He smiled too and started jogging in-place, immitating me. I changed my stride to immitate him. We laughed.
- I’m really thankful for my friends. It’s nice to be able to hang out impromptu.
- I’m very lucky that I have an in-demand skill set. I have great freedoms as a result.
- I’m thankful for the great discussions I had today. I’m still amazed that this kind of interaction was always within reach if I wanted it.
- I’m thankful for people who want to help me learn and grow. I feel like I’m surrounded by people who have the best intentions for me.
- I’m grateful for funky music. It helps me get the “hop” in my step during runs.
- I’m really excited by my newfound appreciation for my own “why”. It allows me to make easy decisions out of what may have been conflict of interests in the past.
- I’m even more excited about communicating through my values—I totally expect great things to happen as a result (they already are!).
- I’m thankful that I learned the importance of honesty. What it’s done is release me from living fearfully, and I’m so glad I’ve shed that source of fear.
- I’m grateful for a morning of Zumba and an afternoon of conversation with Mom. Given the freedom to do anything today, I’d choose those things again (I was free the first time!).
- I think I’m lucky that I’m realizing the value of what people care about. It’s giving me new perspective into how I’d like to focus my daily efforts.
- I’m thankful that I still have a body that let’s me enjoy dance and fulfilling exercise. This won’t last forever.
- I’m thankful for my freedom to be at home and work on things I care about. It’s a luxury I didn’t always have and many people don’t get to have.
- I’m thankful that I’m able to kick my workouts into high-gear effortlessly through the magic of music. I’m so lucky I have the physicallity to afford that.
- I’m grateful that I was able to write several articles today. I think I’m finding my voice better, and I’m enjoying it.
- I had a really good time at the BNI meeting this morning. I’m so lucky that people keep inviting me to sub for them.
- I’m thankful that I have somebody to call when I need them. It’s never much, but even just the quick contact means a lot to me.
- I’m really excited for mentorstories.com. I’m so excited everytime I get to read a new story. The gratitude in each story is so contagious. I’m also thankful that people are getting value from it, even this early.
- I’m thankful that I got to see the first flurries of snow this morning. I don’t care that it’s cold—the season is magical to me.
- I’m very lucky for my newfound tendency to take calculated risks. I found myself making a lot of minor mistakes today, and all of them I’ll be able to learn from and implement different strategies for next time.
- I have been so surprised by all the wonderful entries I’m receiving for mentorstories.com. The excitement of reading them always raises me so high.
- Zumba was a blast today. I ate less and ended up having rediculous energy. It was far from expected, and I’m happy it happened.
- I recognized how I’m more motivated to invest in people than I am in ideas, today. That realization was so inline with my “why” and actually makes me feel great to say out loud. I’m grateful that my scenery changes enough every day to keep my perception of life moving and adapting.
- I’m thankful that I have a car. It’s a huge advantage that I often take for granted.
- I feel very lucky for the people I get to meet everyday. Today was particularly great by no cause of my own. I feel fortunate for that.
- I’m thankful for my friends who are willing and eager to help me when I ask for it. Even if it’s a small thing, having them be there for me means so much.
- The more I communicate through my intentions, the more I live them. I’m thankful for efforts that drive habits that change my life.
- I’m grateful for hot chocolate and comfy pants on a chilly evening.
- Had yet another meeting with someone who shares my values this morning. I’m constantly impressed by how similar we all are.
- On my train rides to and from the city, I had the opportunity to help people going in each direction. I’m thankful that I’m recognizing these opportunities and actually acting on them. If I hesitated before, I don’t now, and I’m really happy about that change.
- I’m grateful for the people closest to me in my life. Even though our differences collide at times, we opt to listen and learn from each other, creating understanding and forging stronger relationships.
- I’m thankful for cruddy weather. It inexplicably lifts my spirits.
- I’m grateful that I get to meet new people who are excited about what they do. It makes me excited to do my own work, too.
- I really appreciated the colors of the sunset with the light drizzle tonight. I love rediscovering the same place over and over again.
- I’m thankful for delicious leftovers I forgot about in the fridge.
- I’m grateful for the people I’m able to lean on for advice from time to time. Their perspectives and reliability are invaluable to me.
- Really enjoyed dancing today. I’m thankful that I’m able to reach “flow” during classes, with other students, no less.
- I’m thankful for my tendancy to listen and learn. I feel like I learn something new and actionable almost every day, which feels really good.
- I really enjoyed the damp, foggy evening weather. Something about the dreariness makes me feel at home and makes me want to go outside. I feel lucky when I get to experience that.
- I’m grateful for my relationship with my Mom. I really enjoyed talking with her today.
- My run today was fantastic. The air was crisp, the sun was setting, and listening to The Holiday Soundtrack offered a cinematic tranquility to it all. It was a really nice place to be for an hour.
- I’m thankful that I’m in the mode of listening to others’ perspectives. It helps me learn so much more, which is in line with what makes me tick.
- I’m equally thankful that I can listen and learn from others without losing myself to their motivations. That separation allows me to stay safe while I learn, changing only when I consciously decide that it’s the best thing to do.
- I’m grateful that eating ice cream yesterday didn’t ruin my energy levels today.
- On the highway, I noticed a car trying to turn into my lane. I left some room, but noticed the driver kept peeking in her side mirror carefully. Amused, I smiled and gestured her to move into the lane with my finger. She saw me, smiled too, then moved in, waving to me in her mirror. I waved back. I was such a small interaction with a stranger that felt so fun and fulfilling at the same time. I’m thankful for that.
- I’m grateful for people I want to spend time with who also want to spend time with me.
- Had a great meeting this morning with someone who was able to help me grasp new meaning in my work. I’m so lucky that I meet people who expand possibilities this way.
- Excellent dance class per usual. I don’t know how to describe it, but I had a heightened awareness of my own body and noticed how it moved to the music. The result was great and unexpectedI felt “at peace” while moving. I really enjoyed it.
- I’m thankful for all the people in my life who make it fulfilling. It can be easy to not think about how many lives I’m a part of and are a part of mine.
- I’m grateful for my comfy winter pants.
- I had a great and fulfilling conversation this morning with someone who mirrors my own beliefs and motivations. Connections like that one are exceptionally uplifting, and I’m already fortunate to find that just by chance.
- There were a lot of candy wrappers at the beach today. I picked up a few and felt kinda good, so then I spent the whole jog back picking up trash. I really enjoyed it—only by chance did I stumble on that experience.
- Some of the wrappers had candies in them. I’m thankful that I didn’t eat a single one.
